HORIZONS IN VARIATIONS

AN ARTISTIC CREATION FOR THE SPACE OF NEW EMERGENCIES OF LOUIS MOURIER HOSPITAL - COLOMBES / AP-HP

-CONCEPT:
Realize an artistic intervention from the entrance of the building, to make a signal immediately visible and to extend it in the waiting area and in the room of return of stretchers to bring to these places a welcoming and soothing atmosphere.
This installation, entitled Horizons in variations would come in several parts following the course of visitors.
1-to Introduce the work by " the light " of the building where arrive the vehicles, because it could so be visible at the same time from the inside and from the outside to consolidate the idea of the passage.
Glasses will be replaced by plates of translucent Danpalon of blue color.
This material allows to marry perfectly the curvature of the architecture of a place and also allows the support of Leds, which brings a complementary bright touch, what can make of this translucent line a pleasant and visible light signal from the outside.
2-On the sliding door, will become integrated a big photography, in three parts and stuck on three glasses. The image will be so visible from the inside of the building which welcomes vehicles, of the internal corridorand the waiting room.
This image will decline a beautiful bright blue sky, being able to evoke the universality just as much as the future, but a little bit cloudy to make it alive.
3-On the side door adjoining the sliding door, an adhesive of the same blue color as the plates of Danpalon and the dominant color of the sky about the sliding door, remind and of continuity of the route accompanying the visitor.
So an installation of works with blue dominant, introducing the theme Horizons in variations, would come in three parts from the entrance to premises.
4-In the waiting room, a photography of skies.
5-In the room of return of stretchers, a work photoschedules on paper, stuck on aluminium sheet and under Diasec, with a sky in the orangy gradations above a city panorama. The colors of this work will be in accordance with those of the ground and the wall of this room and comforting for the visitors.

II - SUMMARIZED
A bright blue ribbon will so value the shape of the building and will become a signal by giving its esthetic identity. It will guide the visitors towards the other works declined all along the route, the photo integrated into the sliding doors, opening on the pole of reception and the side door, then in the waiting room and in the room of stretchers. The installation of the whole work Horizons in variations, by its sense and its esthetic research, will give to this pole of emergency and reception, a much more welcoming and more soothing atmosphere.

III-TECHNICAL ELEMENTS:
- The glasses which follow the curved line of the small building entry as well as their fixations will be changed by plates of blue Danpalon and realized by a specialized company 
- Blue Leds of color and white will be settled above the strip of Danpalon, under the ceiling, to enlighten the blue color and give it its transparency.
- A photography on adhesive of 300X220 cm in three parts will be created by the artist and put on the sliding door by a specialized company.
- A blue adhesive of 90X236 cm, will be put by the same company on the side door 
- Two other photographic works of sky will be created by the artist, stuck on aluminium sheet and under diasec, for the waiting room and the room of return of stretchers.

PARTICIPATION OF THE VISITORS:
The passage at the hospital is a moment in charge of anxiety where the visitors and their accompanying persons wonder about the diagnosis of the doctors and about the continuation of the events. One moment when everything can fall over to the life of a person and her family. To have stayed in a hospital and in other circumstances, accompanied by close relations, the artist was able to estimate the absolute necessity of calming the people affected in their body, because the mental is essential in the coverage of their problems and their treatment. The importance of the place which welcomes them and of the nursing staff is thus considerable.
To let the art enter to the hospital allows often to create a parallel universe which authorizes the distance from the very concrete and alarming medical world. It can offer a possibility of escape and relaxation to all those who are subjected to the stress of the accident, whoever it is.
As well for those who undergo it as for those who are brought to handle it.
That is why, during the installation of the works, the artist would like to make the visitors participate by questioning them on the way they feel by arriving and on the fact that these works, evoke to them. If they calm them, distract them. How they interpret these images.
The artist would also like to develop her work with the nursing staff who will be brought to live these works on a daily basis, by showing them and by explaining the sense of her search, by taking them up on her works, which deal with the humanity, with the identity in all these meanings of a word. Of the human existence, of this space-time which it is given to us to live.

MY ARTISTIC APPROACH by Andréa Philippot Mathieu:
By the use of varied media - installations, paint, photography, video - and of their interaction, I wonder about the identical signals. Their perception and their representation.
My works are situated in meeting places between various fields of investigation, they are built on the jamming of techniques by making them revolve of the one in the other one.
In this travel which allows me to recreate the documentary image, I disrupt the codes of reading and modify the reality which serves us as reference.
But this freedom which I give myself has to join a precise program where the works get organized serial to put in perspective virtual links and establish dialogues.
I use the photography because it is more than any other artistic expression, the reflection of our time by being a direct testimony of this one and by its technology always in evolution. I appropriated it in what it offers as the widest and the most innovative experiment also, the digital manipulations favor in which I can transform a subject.
In my photographic search just like that of my videos, it is not a question of making act of a realistic representation, but of calling on to plastic modalities which leave documentary strategies to arrive at more artistic forms thanks to digital manipulations.
By the introduction of a virtual material, my photos become a language to speak identical, personal or collective signals. They have to be read at two levels. The sense, which comes by series and the technique, which slides of the one in the other one in specific variations.
